Why won’t African Americans Come back to Africa?

If you have noticed, the term African American has really fallen out of favor with most Black Americans. The reason being is that we don’t really feel any special connection to Africa. For one, we only know that our ancestors came from Africa, but most of us have no idea exactly where. Secondly, most Black Americans have something like 20–30% European ancestry. There’s a good argument that Black Americans represent their own unique ethnic group that is really only found in modern day United States.
Black Americans’ first enslaved ancestor arrived in what is now the United States sometime in the mid-18th century on average. We have a lineage in our country that is actually longer than most White Americans (again, on average). Why would we go anywhere else?
