X-MAS MESSAGE FROM CIDA PRESIDIUM
CIDA logo
Fellow Zimbabweans, as the soft, golden light of the summer sun graces our homesteads and the first rains bless our soil, we gather with family and friends to celebrate Christmas. It is a time to reflect on faith, togetherness, and the enduring power of hope. The CIDA family extends its warmest wishes to every citizen, at home and in the diaspora, for a peaceful and restorative festive season.
This Christmas, however, is shadowed by the hardships you bravely endure. We know the celebrations are muted by the weight of economic struggle—by the memory of empty chairs at tables where loved ones sit in faraway lands, by the anxiety of soaring prices, and by the weariness of unending queues. Yet, in the very act of gathering, in sharing what we have, and in keeping the flame of fellowship alive, you demonstrate the resilient spirit that defines us as a people. This resilience is the true light of our nation.
As we celebrate the birth of Christ, a symbol of new beginnings and liberation, we are reminded of our shared dream: the birth of a New Zimbabwe. A Zimbabwe where the dignity of labour is restored, where a nurse, a teacher, a farmer, and a vendor can truly enjoy the fruits of their sweat. A Zimbabwe where our children’s future is not a question mark but a promise written in the ink of opportunity and excellence.
The past year has tested our collective resolve. We have witnessed the continued erosion of the freedoms our liberation heroes fought for. We have seen the weaponization of the law, the suppression of dissent, and the betrayal of the democratic will of the people. But like the story of Christmas, our narrative is not one of despair, but of unwavering hope and imminent deliverance.
Therefore, as we stand on the cusp of the New Year, let us not just make resolutions for ourselves, but a sacred covenant for our nation.
Let 2025 be the year where our hope crystallizes into unshakeable action and unity. The journey ahead demands our collective courage. It demands that we register to vote, that we defend our vote, and that we stand shoulder-to-shoulder in peaceful, constitutional pursuit of the change we voted for.
The CIDA remains steadfast. Our resolution for the New Year is not a new one; it is the renewal of our founding pledge: to champion a citizen-centric governance, to revive our economy through transparency and investment, to restore the rule of law, and to return Zimbabwe to its rightful place in the community of nations.
This festive season, as you rest and find strength in your communities, remember this: the hope in your heart is the most powerful force in Zimbabwe. It is the hope for a better life, for justice, and for freedom. That hope is the foundation upon which we will build.
May your Christmas be filled with genuine peace and joy. May the New Year bring you renewed strength and fortitude. Together, in unity and unwavering purpose, we will turn the page. We will claim the dawn of a new, prosperous, and democratic Zimbabwe. It is not just a wish; it is a destiny we will claim, together.
God bless you, and God bless Zimbabwe.
For a New Great Zimbabwe,
The COMBINED IDEAS DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE
