Contributor | No, unfortunately Africa does not have internet. Not yet, anyway. This is of course a source of great concern and conflict. Africa really needs internet as the internet would solve so many of his problems. And Africa reminds his mother of that every day.

But Africa has been told he’s not old enough to have the internet. At age 9, the boy has a phone, but no data and no access to the internet. He feels it’s unfair, but his mom won’t budge. She says he’s not old enough to have the internet on his phone. I’m sure it’s not easy for this young boy.

Being named after a continent is probably also not easy on him.

Oh wait, did you mean does the continent of Africa have internet?

Of course it does. Africa has 54 different countries, all of which have internet access. Some faster and more reliable than others. Here in South Africa I only got my first dialup internet in 1994. Today, 25 years after internet arrived here, I’m getting 35mbps download speed and 19mbps upload speed. Could be faster I guess but it works fine for me.
