If Satan was defeated at the cross, why is he still allowed to cause so much chaos in the world?

Satan was defeated against the Lord. It seemed like the Lord was defeated that day, but quite the opposite. In the natural it seemed Jesus was defeated due to what they did to Him, but in the spiritual, it was the opposite, it was satan who was actually defeated.

So because of what Jesus did for the world, for anyone who believes and gives their lives to Him, will be shielded from the evil one. Satan can no longer hurt, condemn, or take us with him into the lake of fire, because he’s been defeated, which is why we have victory in and through Christ Jesus.

No weapon can prosper against us, no evil can befall us, resist him and he has to flee, greater is our God in us, we can have peace always in every way, and rest for our soul; for His yoke is easy and His burden is light. We can have great victory over all evil in the name and power of our Lord.

But there is a key element of truth needed here. If someone says they are walking with the Lord but living in unrepentant sin, they can be open targets, because sin is dangerous and is an open door to great evil.

So to truly give your life to the Lord means to walk away from the devil and all his sinful ways, so that you can be shielded by the Lord. Resist the devil and he will flee. Putting on the full armor of God. Being of a sober mind, not wasted out of your mind, and fleeing sexual immorality.

Becoming a humbled man or woman of God showing the love of Christ, ditching all the dangerous pride, and coming to know the Lord on a personal level. If you struggle, you ask for the Lord’s help, and He can help you. A broken and contrite spirit He honors, a willingness to turn away from the old life of filth and into a new life of purity before the Lord.

And as we do this, the evil one’s power becomes weakened because we have victory over sin and victory over him because he was defeated that day.

But Satan’s power remains over those who are perishing, he is their father, the father of lies. They are going down with him, not because the Lord doesn’t love all people, He absolutely died for all, but because these people have chosen their fate with the free will they have been given.

They deny Christ and choose death as a result, so yes, for them, satan is able to destroy them because they don’t believe. Or they do believe but don’t want to follow our Him or His ways.

They would rather believe the lies and the father of them. They choose this. We have the Bible in our phones now, totally free, and it only takes a few moments to pray and ask for truth.

But most people won’t even spend a few minutes out of their entire lifetime to ask the Lord to help them understand, to save them, to reveal Himself to them, to show them the way.

Instead, some of them will slander Him without ever humbly praying to Him for guidance in all truth, or they will just ignore Him all together. They won’t read the Bible that is freely available to them, and instead they choose a life drenched in blatant defiling sin to serve their father.
