Contributor | Because the same exact thing happened to Thomas Jefferson. He ran for President of the U.S, and he did “not do well at all.” Then, he ran again, and he won.

Because the same exact thing happened to John Adams.

Because the same exact thing happened to Andrew Jackson.

Because the same exact thing happened to John Quincy Adams.

It also happened to William Henry Harrison; and Martin Van Buren; and to Grover Cleveland; and to Benjamin Harrison; and to William Howard Taft.

Because the same exact thing happened to Herbert Hoover. It also happened to Richard Nixon; it also happened to Gerald Ford.

It also happened to Jimmy Carter; it also happened to George H.W. Bush.

It also happened to Martin Van Buren, running on a third-party ticket his first time around; it also happened to Millard Fillmore, running on a third-party ticket his first time around; It even happened to Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt, running on a third-party ticket his first time around.

ALL of the above ran for President, then lost, and then they tried again, and they won.

That has already happened to seventeen Presidents, out of only 46, in all…

For those of us who are math geeks, that means that 27.059% of all of the American Presidents ran at least once, and lost, and then ran a second time, and won. That is nearly one-third of all of the American Presidents.
